I agree with your PS, the ending is not upto your usual mark, especially considering the awesome build-up. So what did happen to Thandavan mama? Or if you'd rather focus on emotion than actions in the plotline, the Obama mention distracts...it's too big and takes attention away from the general feeling you've got the viewer in - nostalgia, guilt, mischief, resignation, fear.
