Ah! Thank you! I read “Sweet Valley Middle School” and part of some other series, a trendier SVH, can’t remember what it was called. But SVH itself was a little before my time, and banned by certain adult figures! At least there was making out in it, going by the few I did read — SVMS had individual books dedicated to each twin’s first kiss. :P

I used to volunteer/work at the library throughout my high school years. It never failed to make me smile (and laugh, I admit it) as I watched teen and pre-teen girls flock to these books.

Strangely, I was only attracted to the Baby Sitter Club series.

Silky: Yes, I have quite a bundle of memories when it comes to your love for SVH. Including hiding them from Mrs Murlidharan!

Blue: BSC – Yes, full of such deeply intellectual references. No wonder they all gave me a headache! But I do cringe when I think about all the nonsense I have read in my life. :) And as for 1980s fashion – I propose we bring it all back – including shoulder pads. Hee Hee!

guruprasad: I wouldn’t know about M&B.. but it’s really unfair to put Nancy Drews and SVH on the same level. Seriously!

Heh. I’ve read almost every book in the SVH series as well and pathetic as they were, to my teenage self, they were pretty addictive. And that blog is fantastic!

i wouldn’t be surprised if we see this genre of books making a comeback in updated versions! also the five find-outers, secret sevens, famous fives, and the rest of our childhood friends!

i remember silhouette romances and mills & boons used to be hot favourties among the school girls back then. are they still around?
