Either K2 gave me a headache, or I already had one. While I was attempting to upgrade K2 today, a thousand things broke, I had to go back to my older k2 theme. However, restoring it didn’t do much. I am unable to activate the K2 Archives page, the blog title has gone wonky – displaying on whichever side it chooses to appear on.
I like simple themes, but with a certain degree of functionality. The ability to easily change header art and what not. But K2 feels really lumpy and I am increasingly annoyed with it.
I know my inability to deal with these themes is probably a reflection of my lack of skills, but hey, I am annoyed nevertheless.
GGRR.
Tsk, tsk. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
You may recall our off-line discussion on the merits of hosting your blog on your own domain. If all you care about is your blog (and perhaps a bunch of pages for non-blog articles), isn’t it better to go with paid content hosting by, for example, WordPress.com? I believe, with the ‘paid’ option, you get to play with your template (and its CSS) to your heart’s content; and in case of trouble, they probably offer some tech support too?
I raise this point again because of what you said before going “GRRRR…”
Luddite that I am – I glanced at the title of your post and thought of the mountain peak :-)

Abi: Well, it’s the only way to really learn. While for now I do nothing beyond blogging, some day I hope to add more to this website than just a blog. Besides, while the technical support is helpful – I’ve found that I’ve learned so much more about blogging as a platform ever since I started running the blog on my own domain. And I have a niggling feeling that the support there would be more towards wordpress as opposed to support for a theme. :)
GG: Yes, I could be annoyed with a mountain too. I wonder why though.
K2 is history now. Was powerful when in its hey-days. I dumped it a while back. Go for one of these (not the last one – that’s mine). Or try the 83 beautiful WordPress theme list. Most are simply and easily customizable. If you wish, you can tinker with its CSS and other theme elements.
Simple, I mean. Pls be editing previous comment.
