Pink, it was love at first sight!

I wonder how much this Pink Rampage is costing the government. From the BBC,

Now a crime-infested town in the badlands of Bihar, one of the country’s most backward and poorest states, is painting itself pink to uplift, according to authorities, its sagging morale and spirit. Aurangabad (population: 2 million) is one of the most crime-infested towns of Bihar and a hotbed of Maoist rebel activity – nearly 90 people died in two major attacks involving the rebels in 1987 and 2000 alone.

The authorities feel pink is the way to go for Aurangabad residents to feel proud of their town again.

Maybe they did a little research and figured that none of the murderers and criminals wore pink. Or maybe they had a long round of discussions with Barbie. Who knows? But out there, being peaceful is called painting the town Pink!

Well, that’s an interesting post to read a few days after reading this little news item: http://abcnews.go.com/US/LegalCenter/story?id=2552686&page=1

“…the re-offense rate in the county is down 70 percent since he switched to pink jumpsuits for the inmates. He also said there have been no fights between inmates in the jail since it was painted.”
