Not having indulged in YouTube in the time that I was literally bouncing between cities, today a little YouTube digging yielded two gems by Fuzon. Both songs have sufficient cheesiness and memory associated with them.
The first is the wonderful Khamaj.
I heard Khamaj for the first time in a little cottage in Matheran. A few days before our convocation in PostGrad, about 5 of us classmates trooped off to this lovely little place. What I didn’t know of course was that you should never wear white sneakers or socks to this place. Because the trek up the hill is a red horror. The pathway is full of this peculiar red sand that appears to rub its colour off anything it touches. That night, we were dead tired and talking of incredibely stupid things that 22 year olds talk about, with some arbitrary music channel providing background music. That’s when I heard the song.
Second up, the amazingly mellow and angsty Tere Bina that featured in Hyderabad Blues 2.
Now, this movie was seen in Hyderabad with some very good friends. The way late night movies go over weekends, the promise of a late laze the next morning, a Saturday night is gloriously long. A lot of people didn’t like Hyderabad Blues 2 as much as Hyderabad Blues. But liking a movie often has very little to do with the movie itself, but in the circumstances in which you get hold of it, and company (or the lack of it). In Hyderabad, a movie in the context of the city had drawn enough laughs and suchlike. But when you hear such angsty numbers and walk into your empty, bluesy and small house, you flop into bed and wait till you get tired enough to fall asleep.
thanks for tht..
Althogh I spend time in youtube , I never looked for such items.. its nice.
may be now on..
joe
is it khamaaj coz its based on raag khamaaz ?
or mishr khamaaz ?
any idea ?
@ashu: I dont think it resembles khamaaz or khamas as it is called in carnatic music(seethapathe na manasuna is khamas or for the MS fans Dolayam chala dolayam hara dolayam is also in khamas)
man this is a wonderful song… the video is so good and the song better. A typical tamil movie story within a song hehehe…
you do have a knack for finding out such videos from youtube… :):)
Hey N,
Thanks for the Khammaj music video. That’s the song I keep singing, again and again, over and over, walking up and down Manhattan.
Aiso gaye pardes piya ham, chain hame ab aave na.
