Update - BoingBoing has an update on Forbes pulling the article down. It’s sort of funny really

It looks like we have a repeat of the Larry Summers episode here. Yes, you don't agree with what the guy has to say but it doesn't mean Forbes has to pull it down.

Ah well what do you expect from the guy who wrote this?
Economics of Prostitution

Unfortunately business magazines assume that they are talking to the majority of their consumers. The day they think they have money coming in from their women readers they will make sure they appease them too!! Such is the prostitution of economics (pun intended)..

I cannot believe it, the article coming from Forbes. I guess they tried to balance it with the counterpoint article but didn't come close.

Mine can be a classic example of how a womens career can bring a challenge to a South Asian family. My wife, a career diplomat, had rejected career related foreign trainings and scholarships for being with family and having a child. Then it it was my turn to repay the favor accompanying her to a foreign posting giving a break to my established career. It is a challenge to confront the desi relatives who have not faced an instance like this where the husband sacrifices his career for the wife, they have accustomed with the vice versa situation. But to me family is about being together, sacrifices and compromises are part of the game. Being away can create so many inconveniences and in the end can ruin a marriage.

i have seen this issue in reality..in kerala, where the literacy and social development is supposedly high, women are a persecuted lot. and i think the answer is obvious: unless women have financial independence, there wont be any real improvement in their condition.

so down with all the people against career women: maybe they just want dolls.

Nilu: Puke Plagiarism. :)

Amit Agarwal: Heh! I see that they've given it the twist of a debate now. But that piece was a complete disaster.
