  1. mrajshekhar says:

on satyam, yes, mr murty has interesting views. but see what he says at the end.

“but of late, when we look at the attrition figures, we’re asking if we train women for 6-24 months, what is the use if they leave?” The average tenure of women is 2 years; with that of men being slightly higher, he adds.”

er. just slightly higher? the way people carry on about women leaving for marriage and what a terrible loss it is, i thought guys were hanging around in companies for twice, thrice as long.

ps – on another note. thanks for the jarawa post.

  2. If companies actually followed the law and arranged for daycare facilities for babies of employees perhaps more women would be encouraged to work no? You see when a man leaves a job it is ambition – when a woman does – apparently it is loss of ambition because her personal life is so fulfilling.

Companies hardly ever realize that most married women/ women with children work double shifts. One shift at work and the other at home. They prefer working 9 to 5 and moving on – instead of having to pander to the gossipy old bosses. I’d like to look at their Exit Interviews and figure out why women feel they no longer belong with the organisation after getting married. Is the company doing in terms of gender auditing in the first place?

Companies are not responsible towards the community – but they will suffer financial losses if they do not respond to the needs of their workforce. And at least to contain that….
