I just came across Video Volunteers and completely love the idea.
Video Volunteers trains NGOs to set up and run their own sustainable Community Video Units. During an intensive on-site training, NGO staff or community members learn to produce low-cost videos for advocacy, fundraising, education and community awareness efforts. At the end of the project, the NGO has one finished video and the capacity to continue producing videos that make their work more successful.
It’s one thing to consume news and media that you can adjust to your needs, but it’s quite another to create it yourself. I also like the idea that people’s narratives can go into some sort of archive. We’ve always had videos taken by non-professionals, but there is a difference between a home video and a project like this. The fact that something is available in the public domain implies that a narrative is added to public memory (or there exists that possibility). Their video archive can be accessed here, and it appears that they have big plans for the coming year.

Kinda reminds me of the stuff that we did while we were in Loyola. One proposed project, (I presume it is functional now) that our batches planned (for execution by future students) was a system very similar to this. We guys only did community drama in our time :p
Nice nice! Looking good, though I have to say this K2 design is slightly getting on my nerves since its everywhere. If you need help with customisation Neha, lemme know!
I don’t know if Akismet is part of this, but you may also want to install Spam Karma 2 to make sure you don’t get comment and trackback spam. Though as a techie I’m sure you know this already.
Your new place is lookin good! ;)

Anand: Community drama is more interactive is it?
Sunny: Unfortunately am not a techie. But I did add Spam Karma to the growing plugin list. I don’t much like K2 – I will probably switch to something else after I finish working on it. :)
