Weekend Notes – 1

A strangely hobbit like sister lands from Pune, all sweaty and grinning.

So sister landed on Friday. The next 48 hours were a movie Marathon. Eating Marathon and Sleeping Marathon. (Should be a Trialthon right?)

Start with a particulary bad movie. What we wanted was an average Funny for Friday night. We ended up watching Legally Blond 2. Now, I can watch anything and not feel guilty about it. This I feel guilty about. Waste of Rs 50/. One of the worst movies ever made. Legally Blond 1 had some element of Funny/ Stupid in it. This was by far the WORST.

Next up, Taking Lives. Not bad, Timepass types. Very obvious storyline. Blah Blah Of course Blah Blah. But it’s also possible that I have seen so many bloody movies, that nothing really surprises me. Anjelina Jolie is great, but it’s so bloody repetetive. It’s like watching Bone Collector Part 2, except you don’t have someone like Denzel Washington around to make it exceptional. What irritates me is when movies try to be so cool and pretend to be about the ‘mind’ and attempt cheap Psychoanalysis. The kind that takes a Freudian twist of Mother-Son relationships et cetera.

Third. 21 Grams. Brilliant movie. Though non-linear movies tend to irritate me a bit sometimes because they require too much concentration, this one was bloody amazing! In the beginning you feel like flinging away the remote, and then you get more and more involved. Hhmm. The last bits of the movie, are still running in my head.

Fourth. Cellular. Oh God! Could a small great idea be ever so badly translated into a mega length Hollywood venture. Shit movie. Shit idea. Waste! (Note- Why would anyone make SUCH a bad movie?) The funny thing is, I am dead sure someone is going to attempt a Hindi remake of this movie. And insert a few songs at irrelevant points.

Fifth. The Manchurian Candidate. Wow! Though the plot is obvious once you figure it out a little bit, D Wash’s performance is just brilliant. Remake of an older Manchurian Candidate, but I wish the end wasn’t so arbit.

I don’t like Mondays much. Filled with regret about how much more lazing could have been accomplished over the weekend. Sigh! I love Weekends. Weekend-Junkie, Thy name is Neha.

Feel like thrashing my limbs about. Really.
