Vonnegut, and self-pity

A strange day.

The office is half deserted. In all honesty, I have enough work to keep me here till really late at night. But one of those days, where neither the weather nor I are decisive enough.

As a result, I spent some time in the last hour reading up some stuff on Kurt Vonnegut’s official website.

Was reading some of his funnies, that well, sort of cheered me up. Only momentarily though. These moods come to last! Yuck.

“Me and Mike, ve vork in mine,
Holy shit, ve have good time.
Vunce a veek ve get our pay,
Holy shit, no vork next day.”

- Slaughterhouse-Five

“The big trouble with dumb bastards is that they are too dumb to believe there is such a thing as being smart.”
- Sirens of Titan

An excellent collection of his work can be found here. … but even better, one of all time favourites, is nested here. Called ‘ Last words for a century ‘, it is slightly rambly in nature, but somehow, one of his most humane. But then perhaps it all depends on your mood.

Okay. Read Vonnegut. This place is beginning to smell mostly of foolish timepass anyway.
